Fusion Suite
The Fusion suite of products provides
users with efficient access to previously translated material and to
terminology databases. No need to go searching through paper archives:
the information is at your immediate disposal and accessed automatically
when you need it.
The Fusion suite of products includes
the following components:
- Translation Memory – previously
translated material is stored in one or many databases known as
Translation Memories (TM). Any context information
available is also stored there. These TMs can be searched through
a manually generated request or automatically when processing an
MS Office
file.
- Terminology – the terminology component
allows you to define, populate and manage terminology databases,
known as Dictionaries, in
which terms
are stored. Dictionary fields are user-definable and can vary from
dictionary to dictionary and from entry to entry. A dictionary
file is a multilingual component.
- Server – through a networked configuration
based on the Fusion Server, users and locations are linked in a
centralized or decentralized environment,
thus allowing TM and dictionary sharing across an organization,
be it real or virtual.
- MS Office Integration – Fusion is
integrated within the Microsoft Office suite to allow translation
of Word, Excel and
PowerPoint documents
directly in their native application, while providing you with
access to Fusion functions. TM and dictionary searches are automatically
generated
when a new segment in the translated text is opened and the results
are provided to you via an easy-to-navigate interface, the Fusion
Companion.
The Fusion suite also includes the
following tools:
- Search – whether generated manually
or automatically, searches are driven by a state-of-the-art search
engine that quickly
navigates
through your language resources. It can also provide you access to results
from specific on-line resources.
- Alignment – the alignment tool allows
you to import file pairs into a TM. It establishes segment-to-segment
correspondence between the
source and target texts, while still maintaining context information
about the original text. The resulting TM units are immediately
available for reuse once imported. Through a simple user-friendly
interface,
alignment thus produced can be verified and modified if required.
- Terminology
Extraction – this bilingual terminology extraction tool allows
you to extract terms from texts or TMs and generate the equivalent
in the target language. These term pairs can then be exported
to
a dictionary for reuse.
- Analyse/Pre-translate – the Analyse
function provides you with statistics of the potential reuse of
a text to be translated,
while the Pre-translate
function processes the given text through the specified TMs
and replaces the source text with target-language equivalents found
in
those TMs.
These tools are part of the MS Office Integration component.
